River interlinking being pursued in consultation with states:

The Centre today told the Rajya Sabha that it is pursuing the inter-linking of rivers programme in a consultative manner with the states concerned and in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court in the matter.

In a reply to a question in the House, Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that under the National Perspective Plan prepared by the Ministry of Water Resources, National Water Development Authority has already identified 14 links under the Himalayan component and 16 links under the Peninsular rivers component.

Out of these, feasibility reports of 14 links under Peninsular component and 2 links (Indian portion) under Himalayan component have been prepared, he added.
