Police custody of former MNS city President Sumit Khambekar and ex-BJP Corporator Agha Khan, arrested for releasing hazardous chemicals in a river here, was today extended till Saturday by a court here.
The duo, along with three other persons, was arrested on Saturday last on the charges of polluting the Kham river by releasing effluent into it.
After their arrest, both Khambekar and Khan were sacked from their respective parties. They were produced before a local court, which remanded them in further police custody till March 7.
Meanwhile, police sources said a case has also been registered against a multinational company, which is into metals and mining, in the river pollution episode.
