The Kullu district administration has banned rafting in the Beas river as water level has suddenly risen due to intermittent rains.

Keeping in view fluctuation in the water level of Beas, the district administration has imposed a ban on river rafting till further orders.

"A technical committee for the river rafting inspected the river and suggested discontinuation of rafting," said Vinay Dhiman, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manali.

"The ban will continue till further orders".

Normally, the rafting is suspended on Beas during July in the peak monsoon season but this year the ban has come early due to early pre-monsoon rains.

However, the tourist season is at peak, and locals and tourists are not happy with the ban on rafting, which is a major attraction in Kullu area.
