RJ Mir Afsar Ali has attracted online trolls for wishing everyone a merry Christmas but the radio jockey hit back at his detractors in a Facebook post that has gone viral.

Ali said he was shocked by some of the comments advising why a Muslim should not be "celebrating/wishing" on Christmas.

"I was actually very much shocked to see people reacting this way, telling me, literally admonishing me, and advising me that you being a Muslim, you actually should not be celebrating Christmas," he said.

"Had a great Christmas this year... Well almost.. Posted a pic of my family on my official page this morning wishing everyone on this very special day... But that's NOT what this post is about.. ?? It is about a few morons who started giving me advice on why a MUSLIM should not be 'celebrating'/'wishing' on Christmas...," Ali wrote on his Facebook wall.

He also attached the screenshots of some of the hateful comments and decided to put up a post, to criticise what he called a "worrying trend".

"NO... I am NOT angry. I am not even retaliating. I am just thoroughly amused at the state of affairs all around. I sadly realise where we stand today," he wrote, adding if he was to donate anything to a Christian or Hindu organisation, he will be criticised by some Muslims and if he decided to donate to a Muslim organisation, fanatics from other religions will object.

"Friends.. It is a strange world indeed and we are living in stranger times.. And maybe the people who have commented are from a neighbour country, but believe me... Believe me.. there are truly no boundaries/borders for religious fanatics... This is a worrying trend all over the world..

"And trust me, it was always there.. The minds were always this narrow... It's just that today, you get to read/speak about it more often than you breathe air and drink water!

"All I can say at the end of this post for these scumbags is ironically in the words of Lord Jesus Christ... "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

He ended the post with an amusing line.

"Yeh Christmas jitni 'Merry' hai, utni hi hai 'Teri'.. Par Afsos, tu samjhegaa nahin."

Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said there is proper legal architecture in place about the IT Act for a person troubled by any trolling.

"Those who abuse the system, there is a proper legal architecture in place to take action for which complaint can be filed," he told a TV channel.

Superstar Aamir Khan said he prefers to ignore trolls and move towards positivity.

"In life we meet all kinds of people. Some people are negative. So I try and stay away from them. Get positive energy and give positive energy," he said.

According to wrestler Gita Phogat, its better to "ignore people speaking nonsense".

Actor Alok Nath said, "I am not that net savvy as how the intricacies work but I think this was not an issue for the award wapasi gang who thought they would get brownie points for. And they were hibernating.
