RJD members trooped into well of the assembly shouting slogans demanding a CBI probe as Leader of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui said he was contemplating moving a breach of privilege motion against Rural Development minister Nitish Mishra for making uncharitable remarks about his son yesterday.
The disruption caused by RJD members forced Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary to adjourn the House till 12:30 pm and subsequently to 2:00 pm when they continued doing so.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was present in the House during this time.
In the Legislative Council, RJD members led by Leader of Opposition Gulam Gaus and former chief minister Rabri Devi also protested against the government not ordering a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularity.
Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra, however, raised doubt on the authenticity of the survey by Delhi-based NGO which highlighted irregularities of Rs 6000 crore in executing the MNREGA project in Bihar.
Alleging that the report appeared to be politically motivated, the minister said similar faulty survey was carried out by the NGO, Centre for Environment and Food Security (CEFS), in four non-Congress states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha and the language was the same in reports for all the four states.
He said the state government had ordered an administrative probe the day the NGO's report was made public and a CBI probe could be considered when the administrative probe was found to be faulty.
Mishra said the state government has set up a Vigilance and Monitoring Committee under him for strict monitoring of the scheme.
Jyoti (Congress) and Basudeo Singh (CPIM) also raised questions on implementation of the scheme, while Neeraj Kumar (JD-U) defended the government.
