RJD leader Rabri Devi today blamed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the "siphoning off" of Rs 3.56 crore from the treasury in Patna and demanded a CBI probe into it.

"Since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself is looking after Finance department he is responsible for the loot of Rs 3.56 crore from Patna treasury by officials through forged signature," Rabri Devi, wife of RJD President Lalu Prasad, said in a statement.

Three government servants have been arrested in connection with alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.56 crore from the treasury.

They have been suspended by the Patna District administration.

"The Chief Minister who can not protect state's treasury has no moral rights to continue on the chair," the former Chief Minister said.

She said that this was not a one-off case as earlier also there has been many instances of "loot" of public money.

In the past, money was withdrawn in Excise department on the basis of forged signature.

"The CAG has highlighted financial mismanagement and irregularities under the present dispensation," she alleged.
