A delegation of Rashtriya Lok Dal today called on Uttar Pradesh Governor B L Joshi and asked a CBI inquiry into hike in power tariff and its immediate roll back in the state.

A delegation of RLD led by national secretary Anil Dubey met the Governor at Raj Bhawan and handed over a memorandum in this regard.

The party in its memorandum said that there was an acute power crisis in the state and farmers were not getting electricity for even five hours for agricultural purposes.

RLD alleged that instead of ensuring power supply the government got power tariff hiked by 35 per cent to 45 per cent by asserting pressure on the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission and UP Power Corporation Limited.

The memorandum stated that the party had lodged its protest with the UPERC and UPPCL and demanded that power tariff should not be hiked.

The party alleged that consultant of the UPERC and UPPCL was same which was against the rule.

The RLD representatives demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter and asked for action against the guilty.

Dubey also attracted the Governor's attention towards law and order situation and said that the manner in which policemen were being killed in the state was a matter of serious concern.
