RLD workers who took out marches also set ablaze sugarcane and paddy stacks to register their protest over the alleged anti-farmer policies being pursued by the state government and submitted a 10-point memorandum addressed to Governor B.L Joshi to the respective district authorities.

In the state capital, RLD workers led by state unit president Munna Singh Chauhan, took out a march from party headquarter to the Vidhan Sabha where they set sugarcane and paddy piles ablaze before the statue of former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Raising slogans, they demanded increase in SAP, immediate withdrawal of cost of transportation of the goods being charged from farmers, proper running of paddy procurement centres and enquiry into the paddy procured uptil now among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Chauhan alleged that state government was busy in corruption and had nothing to do with the welfare of farmers and youth.

"In fact it is competing with the previous government and wanted to overtake it and set a new example of corruption and injustice," he alleged, hitting out at the Samajwadi Party government.

Protests were also held in Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Rampur, Bareilly, Agra, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Barabanki, Sitapur, Pratapgarh, Faizabad and other districts, Chauhan claimed.
