Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh today slammed both the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government calling them "insensitive" to the problems of the farmers, who he said have lost hope of "achche din".

"Are these the promised 'achche din' when farmers are forced to commit suicide because of the hopeless conditions and bad state of affairs", Ajit Singh, who was here to meet the suffering farmers, told newspersons.

"The Centre and state governments are insensitive towards the losses suffered by these farmers... They are making fun of farmers by distributing cheques worth two figure amounts," he said.

Attacking the Central government on the land acquisition bill, he said that while senior BJP leaders had hailed the bill brought by the UPA government, their senior leaders are now terming it as bad and want to implement an anti-farmers bill.

He also criticised the Samajwadi Party government of Uttar Pradesh and said that its president Mulayam Singh Yadav cannot do anything against it (Centre) because of personal reasons.

Stressing that his party will go solo in next Assembly polls in UP, Singh said he would chalk out a future strategy on the issue of farmers' problems and reorganisation of the state in a meeting convened in Lucknow on July 11.
