Rly to introduce AYUSH system in its five hospitals

The railways will soon introduce AYUSH system in five of its hospitals, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said while presenting the Railway Budget today.

Prabhu also said that it will tie up with the Union Health Ministry to ensure exchange medical facilities and personnel between railway hospitals and government hospitals.

"Indian Railways will tie up with the Ministry of Health for ensuring an exchange of doctors and medical facilities between railways hospitals and government hospitals.

"Indian Railways will introduce 'AYUSH' systems in five railway hospitals," he said.

The Department of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003.
 

This was done with an aim to provide focused attention to development of education and research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy systems.

The Narendra Modi-led government has laid special emphasis to promote AYUSH system of medicines.

Terming the railway workforce as "sincere and dedicated, Prabhu said it is his endevour to improve their working conditions.

"I am proud to lead a work force that is sincere and dedicated. It is my constant endeavour to improve their working conditions so that they continue to serve the organisation with devotion," he said.
