Road accident kills 7 in Bangladesh

At least seven persons were killed today when a truck laden with rice lost control and plunged into a ditch in Bangladesh.

The incident took place early in the morning at Chittagong city, about 260 kms from here, on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway near South Sonapahar area.

The deceased, aged between 25 to 45, were travelling in the truck by sitting on the rice bags loaded in it when the accident occurred, bdnews24.Com reported.

Police said all the seven victims were killed on the spot. The errant truck was seized but the driver managed to flee the spot.

Every year, scores of people lost their lives in road accidents in Bangladesh mainly due to rash driving, improper maintenance of vehicles, poor road conditions among other reasons.
