Family members of a 47-year-old man, who died after being hit by a rashly-driven car, have been awarded compensation of nearly Rs 14 lakh by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) here.
The tribunal directed the driver-cum-owner of the offending Maruti van, which caused the accident, to pay as compensation Rs 13,99,516 to the wife and children of Kishan Lal, who died after being hit by the car two years ago.
While deciding the petition in the victim's favour, the tribunal relied on testimony of his wife and an eyewitness, besides documents on record including medical report of Lal and FIR against Joginder Singh for rashly driving the car.
