Road mishaps kill 23 in Pakistan

At least 23 people were killed and 30 others injured today in two separate road accidents in central Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir region, police said.

A passenger bus overturned after colliding with a trailer at Harloni Mur in Mianwali district of Punjab province.

"Eighteen passengers were killed and 30 injured in the accident," a police officer said.

The injured were rushed to hospitals of Mianwali, where some of them are reported to be in critical condition.

Police said that the accident was caused due to over speeding by the bus driver.

In the second accident, five people were killed when a car fell into river Neelum at Falaka Bridge in Neelum Valley of PoK.
 

Five people in the car were killed on the spot, police said.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan. Most of the mishaps are caused by reckless driving and bad roads.
