A part of a city road leading to the residence of Bengali screen icon Suchitra Sen, who died last month, was today renamed as "Suchitra Sen Sarani".
Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Sobhan Chatterjee said a portion of Pramathesh Barua Sarani, popularly known as Ballygunge Circular Road in south Kolkata, was named after the actress.
He told PTI that Ballygunge Phari, a prominent intersection close to her residence, would now be known as "Suchitra Sen Square".

The decision to this effect was taken at a monthly meeting of the KMC as per an earlier announcement made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said.
The legendary actress died in Kolkata on January 17 at the age of 82.
The state government had conferred its highest award 'Banga Bibhushan' on Sen in her absentia in 2012.
