Rajasthan police today claimed that its road safety awareness drive is finally yielding results with the number of deaths in road accidents recording a significant decline.
The number of road accident deaths recorded in April this year were 34 less than the corresponding period of the last year, DGP Omendra Bharadwaj informed.
The figure for people injured in road accidents also came down by 309 for the month of April, the DGP said.

He said that road safety was among the top priorities of the state police and awareness activities for road safety were conducted in the all the districts of the state.
ADG (Traffic) Dr Sudhakar Johri said that all district SPs and Jaipur and Jodhpur Police commissioners were conducting activities for spreading awareness about road safety.
He informed that police has deployed 100 patrolling vehicles on all national and state highways and local police were also conducting additional patrolling to check highway crimes.
Last year, a total of 9,724 people were killed and 27,424 were injured in 23,592 road accidents in the state.
