The importance of the 4.56 Km long Digha-Sonepur bridge could be gauged from the fact that it would work as an alternative to the existing Gandhi Setu, the link between Patna and north Bihar.
The Gandhi Setu is in a dilapidated condition and its restructuring work will take about 42 months. The work is yet to start.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the rail section of the bridge on March 12, 2016.
Stating that he was closely monitoring the construction work of the approach road of the road deck, Tejashwi asked Road Construction Department's Principal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena to keep a tab on both the progress and the quality work.
Officials assured Tejashwi, who is also RCD minister, that they would complete all construction work relating to the road section of the bridge by May 25, 2017.
