Roadmap drawn to promote economy in sync with ecology: Sonowal

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said his government has prepared a strategy to highlight the state's economy in accordance with its ecology for rational distribution of wealth.

Sonowal, while interacting with students who were a part of the state assembly's month-long internship programme, also said the Centre's Act East Policy transformed Assam into a gateway to South East Asian countries.

"The Assam government has drawn a broad roadmap to promote the economy of the state in sync with its ecology for rational distribution of wealth among all sections of people," the chief minister said.

Sonowal urged students to imbibe the qualities of democratic leadership to achieve success in all aspects of life.

 

"Democratic leadership, which is of paramount importance for the success of democracy, is something young students should imbibe and execute," the CM said.

The students' internship programme is aimed to study how UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are reflected in the deliberations of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami said willing, meritorious students will be sent to the Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership in Mumbai, and the state government will bear the cost.
