Robber kills 2 children, decamps with cash, jewellery

Two children were killed by an unidentified person before he robbed Rs 20,000 cash and jewellery from a house in a village here, police said today.

The incident took place last night when the robber forcibly entered Kashiram's residence in Durgapur village and killed his son Govind (8) and niece Sonam (11) when no one else was in the house, Superintendent of Police Anurag Sharma said.

Later, he decamped with Rs 20,000 cash, gold and silver jewellery kept in a cupboard, he said.

When Kashiram returned home, he found a blood-stained shovel and the children lying in a pool of blood following which he informed the police, the SP said.
 

A hunt is on to nab the culprit, he said adding, further probe into the incident is on.
