Robber who targeted jobless girls arrested

A 47-year-old man, who looted jobless girls under the guise of providing them part- time employment, was arrested today by the police.

Police recovered stolen gold jewellery and mobile phones from the accused, Jakkana Srinivasa Rao.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order, South Zone) G Ramgopal Naik said Rao, a resident of Kancharapalem area here, was an ex-convict and had been previously involved in more than 30 criminal cases.

Disclosing further details at a press meet here, Naik said Rao had circulated pamphlets in various places in the city inviting applications from young girls for part-time jobs in a company, JK Boda Finance Pvt Ltd, here. The pamphlets had his phone number.
 

On seeing the pamphlet, a 23-year-old post-graduate holder, V Ramya, and her friends B Lakshmi Shireesha and Kumari Rao contacted Rao on October 25 for part-time employment in the firm.

The trio went to Gajuwaka area after receiving a call from the accused on October 30. Rao sent them to three different persons. Rao later followed Ramya and looted her gold ornaments and mobile phone worth Rs 29,000 by threatening with a knife, the DCP said.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim, police nabbed Rao and recovered the gold jewellery and mobile phone.

Police said they are ascertaining how many other girls were looted by Rao.
