Four robbers today looted Rs 28 lakh from a petrol station cashier at gunpoint near the city outskirts, but were arrested after a chase by police and villagers.
The cashier was going to deposit the money to a nearby bank in a car, when the gang members who came in another car blocked his vehicle. They snatched the bag containing the money at gun-point and fled, police said.
On being informed, police and villagers blocked the roads and chased them in their vehicles.

A gang member then fired two rounds from his gun at a group of villagers who blocked their car. The gang tried to speed away but their car overturned some 15 kms from where the robbery took place, police said.
Police then managed to arrest the robbers.
