Robbers attack 2 jewellers, loot gold worth Rs 15 lakh

Four armed miscreants allegedly attacked two jewellers and decamped with Rs 15 lakh worth of gold and silver jewellry under Govind Nagar police station here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday around 7:30 pm when jewellers Jagdish Rajput and Vishal were returning home from their shop in Bairagpura Bazaar with a bag containing gold and silver jewellry, police said.

Four armed men who were on foot, surrounded the duo and tried to snatch the bag from them.

However, the traders resisted following which an accused fired at Vishal and hit Jagdish Rajput with the butt of the country-made gun, he said.
 

The accused then decamped with the bag.

Vishal was later admitted to a Agra hospital.

The SSP Manzil Saini said the accused would be nabbed soon and the looted jewellery recovered. He also assured the traders that in order to prevent recurrance of such incidents, a police picket would be set up.
