Robbers kill bank manager, loot cash from van

Armed robbers today shot dead a bank manager and wounded two others before looting money from a vehicle carrying cash of a nationalised bank near Bodhi Matth in Bihar's Sitamarhi district, police said.

The robbers fired indiscriminately at the cash van of Punjab National Bank, killing its Dumri branch manager Ram Swarth Ram and injuring two, including the driver of the vehicle. They then looted the cash box, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said.

The exact amount of money taken was yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that the incident took place on Naraha-Dumri road.

The cash had been obtained from the PNB main branch at the district headquarters, Kumar said.
 

The injured were admitted to hospital.
