Three armed assailants stabbed a chartered accountant's driver and robbed his car outside a mall in South Delhi's posh Vasant Kunj area here, police said today.

The incident took place around 10:30 PM yesterday when Gurgaon-based chartered accountant Alok Kumar was having dinner inside the mall while driver Vishnu was waiting outside in his Hyundai Verna car, a police official said.

Minutes after Kumar had left for the mall, three men approached the car and knocked on its window. When Vishnu rolled down the glass, one of them pointed a pistol at him and asked him to get out of the car. As he resisted, they stabbed him and fled the spot with the car, he said.

As passersby saw Vishnu lying in a pool of blood, they called the police. Meanwhile, Kumar also came out.

"Vishnu was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where his condition is stated to be critical, but stable. A case has been registered at the Vasant Kunj North police station," said the police official.

Police instantly barricaded all the escape routes, but the assailants could not be traced.

Investigators are scanning the CCTV footages of the nearby areas and all the exit routes to find any clue, the official said.
