Robbers allegedly decamped with ATM of a private bank along with Rs 8.5 lakh on the Ambala-Naraingarh road near Ambala city, police said today.

The robbers escaped with the machine of IDBI Bank last night after they failed to steal currency from it, police said, adding that they also took away CCTV cameras and recording machine with them.

The weight of the machine was around two and half quintals, police said, adding that a forensic team was called to the spot, but no clue have been found till now.

The bank has given the contract of installation and maintenance of its ATMs to Delhi-based company AGS Transact Technology, which is looking after around 190 ATM centres in Ambala and Yamunanagar districts.

The supervisor of the company Amit Shrivastava said the ATM was installed on this road a few years back.

He told that the security guard was not deployed on this ATM and that it was the responsibility of the bank.
