Robbery at jeweller's house

Six unidentified armed assailants robbed a jeweller and his family of cash and valuables worth around Rs 11 lakh at gunpoint in Kavi Nagar area in the wee hours of the day.

According to police, Vijay Rastogi, who owns a jewellery shop in Ghaziabad, lives with his family in Chiranjeevi Vihar area.

The incident occurred around 2.30 AM when Vijay along with his nine family members was sleeping in his house.

"Six armed assailants scaled the wall of Vijay's house around 2.30 AM and held Vijay, his brother Ashish, father Jagdish, who is retired tax superintendent of transport department, along with other members, including two children, at gunpoint and robbed valuables," said a senior police officer.
 

The officer said that the accused assaulted Ashish for resisting the robbery attempt and also threatened to kill the children.

"Vijay told police that the accused made away with jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh, other valuables including a tablet and a mobile, worth Rs 4 lakh and one lakh in cash," he also added.

Police are scanning the footage of CCTV installed in the nearby area to identify the robbers.

"Police are also investigating any insider's role in the robbery. A case has been registered at Kavi Nagar police station and further investigation is on," the officer added.
