An alleged robber was today lynched by locals in the Nagal area here following an attempt by a trio to rob a livestock trader, police said.

According to police, the trader, identified as one Rashid, was returning from a livestock market with some friends when a trio on a bike waylaid them.

One of the three bikers shot Rashid in the leg and snatched away a bag from him containing Rs 62,000.

But the sound of firing brought locals to the spot who then surrounded the alleged robbers and proceeded to beat them up.
