Robbery in Chandigarh's posh market, owner shot at

An unidentified man opened fire and injured the owner of a jewellery shop in Sector 22 of the city and decamped with valuables this afternoon.

The man, whose face was covered, entered into the shop and fired at the owner, Sonu, police said.

The man took away jewellery from the shop, located barely 500 meters from a police post, in Sector 22, considered to be the heart of the city.

Sonu received injuries on his head and has been hospitalised, police said adding that his condition is stable.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukhchain Singh Gill said that police had been examining the CCTV footage of the shop and would soon nab the culprit.
