Robbery victim Parwinder Singh alias Pindi, whose death had triggered protests, was cremated at his native village Chachoki here today.

Alleging delay in registration of a case by police in connection with the robbery, Parwinder's family members and villagers staged a sit-in in front of SDM's office last night.

On March 29, Parwinder, aged 35, was attacked by three persons riding a motor-cycle near village Jamalpur when he was returning home from his mobile store, police had said.

The attackers took away his scooter, wallet and mobile phone.

The victim, admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana, had succumbed to his injuries on April 18.

The victim's family alleged the complaint relating to the robbery incident was registered by police only on April 17 and demanded action against the guilty policemen.
