Roberto Mendes Silva, popularly known as Beto who helped Churchill Brothers in winning the I-League title, has gone back to Dempo after two years.

The 34-year old, who played for Dempo Sports Club from 2006 to 2011, has signed on dotted lines along with several other players including Shubhasis Roy Choudhary (GK), Laximikant Kattimani (GK), Godwin Franco, Clifford Miranda, Debarata Roy and ex-Mumbai FC midfielder Gabriel Fernandes.

The Brazilian, who won the National League titles under the tutelage of Armando Colaco at Dempo and became one of the most adored footballers in Goa said, "It will be great to be with Dempo (again). I am looking forward to win laurels for the club and also regain the I-League title which they have lost to Churchill Brothers,".

"Playing for Churchill was an enriching experience. Like I always said, I wanted to win the I-League with a different club and Churchill, at that time, appealed to me the most. They were passionate about football and I knew I could achieve my dream and help Churchill realise their dream too. Once that was done, it was time to move on," explained the Brazilian.

Dempo, who had an ordinary season this time, would be looking for a fresh start next year and Beto seemingly is part of that initiative.
