Chana prices moved up by 0.55 per cent to Rs 3,825 per quintal in futures market today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand from dal mills at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 21, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 3,825 per quintal with an open interest of 38,310 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in May gained Rs 19, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 3,844 per quintal in 67,210 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana futures prices to fresh positions created by traders after upsurge in demand from dal mills in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
