Chana prices rose by 1.49 per cent to Rs 6,193 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in September went up by Rs 91, or 1.49 per cent, to Rs 6,193 per quintal with an open interest of 1,350 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in October contracts traded higher by Rs 72, or 1.17 per cent, to Rs 6,248 per quintal in 35,650 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders, tracking a firm trend at spot market on surging demand amid pause in arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
