Zinc prices edged up by 0.42 per cent to Rs 204.90 per kg in futures market today as traders enlarged positions on the back of pick up in demand in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December edged higher by 85 paise, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 204.90 per kg in business turnover of 8,322 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November traded higher by 80 paise, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 205.45 per kg in 9,520 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants following uptick in demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly led to rise in zinc prices at futures trade.
