A rocket launcher, two rockets and an AK-47 rifle buried in the ground were recovered from a village in Purulia district, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Rupesh Kumar said the weapons were found on Thursday from two sites near Khatanga village under Kotshila police station area bordering Jharkhand.

Acting on a tip off, police had arrested Jamaluddin Ansari and Ratu Pramanick from the village, around 30 km from here, on July 24.

The two revealed about the sites during interrogation following which the weapons were recovered, Kumar said.

It is being investigated if Ansari and Pramanick, who are now in police custody, have links with Maoists or terrorists.

Meanwhile, CID officials in Kolkata said the weapons are probably locally manufactured.

CID is awaiting a report from the district intelligence and would intervene only if necessary, the officials said.
