A rocket used in target practice was today found abandoned at Sassoon Dock in South Mumbai, said a defence official.

"The Navy was informed about an abandoned ammunition at Sassoon Dock in Colaba at around noon, " said a defence spokesperson.

"The same was inspected by a Naval team and was classified as an already used practice rocket," he added.

"The rocket, which had no explosive content, has been since transferred to the Armament Depot for safe keeping. In all likelihood the rocket was snagged in a fishing net at the sea," the spokesperson added.

Rockets are usually fired in the high sea during practice sessions.
