A full grown rogue tusker, which had attacked people and destroyed crops, was put to sleep today by forest personnel in Beliatore range here today.

Bankura Divisional forest officer (north) Pinaki Mishra said four rounds were fired to kill the elephant.

Four trained elephants were used in the exercise besides a number of forest department personnel, he said.

The animal had killed four people in the area in February, attacked others and destroyed crops, Mishra added.
