Romanian anti-terrorist authorities have detained a high school student on suspicion of having links to the Islamic State, the first case of its kind in Romania.
Mihaela Porime, spokeswoman for the anti-crime and terrorist prosecutors' office, told The Associated Press a 17-year-old had been taken into custody from his home in the southern city of Craiova and will be brought to Bucharest Tuesday. She declined to comment further pending a statement from prosecutors.
News agency Mediafax reported that the unnamed youngster sent Islamic State propaganda clips, including images of captives being beheaded.
Spokesman for Romania's domestic intelligence agency Ovidiu Marincea said the agency had been aware of the teen and had handed over relevant information to authorities.
