Actress Rooney Mara does not look forward to red carpet events and considers it an "irritating part" of the job.

The actress, who stars opposite Cate Blanchett in "Carol", is nominated in the best supporting actress category at the upcoming Oscars.

The movie, directed by Todd Haynes, is set in the 1950s New York and depicts the romance between Mara and Blanchett's characters.

"I don't think the red carpet is ever something you look forward to. For me, it is an irritating part of the job. I try and make the most of it and have fun with it. But it is like this weird other thing. It has nothing to do with movies. It has become this thing unto itself," Mara told the Telegraph.

The film will be released in India on February 26 by Pictureworks.
