The three-day annual 'Rouza Sharif Urs' will start on December 9 at the tomb of Sufi Saint Sheikh Ahmad Farooqui in Sirhind.
A number of Muslims from various parts of the country are likely to attend Urs, which will be held from December 9 to 11, an official spokesperson said here today.
Observed every year in the month of Safar according to the Muslim calendar, Urs provides an opportunity not only for the Muslims but also the Hindus and Sikhs to pay obeisance to the saint and enjoy the fair organised on the occasion and purchase handicraft goods.

All concerned officials have been directed by the district administration to ensure adequate bus service, parking space, proper drinking water, health care facilities and uninterrupted power supply to areas likely to be visited by the devotees, Sharma said.
Khalifa of Rouza Sharif Mohammed Sadiq Raja Mujeddedi said, special arrangements have been made for the lodging of pilgrims. Also a community kitchen has been set up pilgrims from various countries who come here to pay obeisance.
Urs commemoration completely religious in nature and no political activity is allowed on the occasion, he said.
Rouza Sharif is situated on the Fatehgarh Sahib-Bassi Pathana road, built in 1929, in the vicinity of the Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
