RPF constable shot dead by militants in Kashmir

A constable of Railway Protection Force (RPF) was today shot dead by militants in south Kashmir Pulwama district, police said.

Head Constable Rajender Singh of the RPF was shot at by militants at Awantipora from close range, a police spokesman said.

He said the injured constable was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to multiple bullet injuries.

This is second attack by militants on security forces in Kashmir within 24 hours. Eight BSF personnel were injured in a militant attack at Pampore town late last night.
