In a broad daylight robbery, two armed youths allegedly looted around Rs 11 lakh from an accountant of a private hospital near the busy Khandagiri Square here today, police said.
"The two-wheeler borne youths opened fire on the vehicle as it slowed down near a speed breaker on the road. They allegedly fled away after taking the bag containing about Rs 11 lakh," DCP Nitinjit Singh said quoting the FIR.
According to the FIR lodged by Sum (rpt) Sum Hospital accountant Hiralal Das, the youths intercepted them by coming on an Activa scooter. When the vehicle stopped, they snatched away the money bag containing the cash which was to be deposited in a bank, Das said.
The police have taken the hospital's accountant and driver of the vehicle for questioning. A case of robbery was registered at Khandagiri police station.
