Union Minister Birender Singh today said 4.48 lakh km of roads would be built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at an estimated cost of Rs 1.34 lakh crore.

"Rs 1.34 lakh crore have been earmarked to build 4.48 lakh km of roads under the PMGSY," the Union Minister told reporters here.

He said around 1,000 km of roads would be built in four states including Haryana.

Stressing that providing potable water is the top priority of the BJP governments at the Centre and in the states, Singh said that underground water is being supplied to 85 per cent villages.

Slamming the previous government for not disbursing the dues of sugarcane farmers, the Union Minister said that these are being paid off now.
