The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has awarded a compensation of Rs 1.75 lakh to the wife of a 75-year-old man killed in a road accident in Dadri, an official said today.
The compensation will be paid to deceased Karan Singh's wife Shanti Devi, Senior Prosecution Officer Lalit Mudgal said, adding that the court refused to entertain a claim by Sashi Bhusan (40), son of the deceased, that he too was dependent on his father.
The deceased was a resident of Mohalla Gautam Puri, in Dadri.
Singh died after being mowed down by a tractor trolley on November 14, 2015, when he was returning home from work, the claimant said, alleging that the accident was caused due to negligent and rash driving of the vehicle.
The deceased was the only source of income of the family, earning Rs 10,000 per month and his future income was bound to increase, the claimant said.
