Police today seized Rs 12.50 lakh from a businessman and detained him for questioning in a village in Bihar's Siwan district, an official said.
Undertaking an intensive checking of vehicles ahead of polls in Siwan parliamentary seat on April 30, the police intercepted a car in Mathuchhap village and recovered Rs 12.50 lakh from a businessman, Sadar block's Block Development Officer (BDO) Sudha Kumari said.
A probe was on to find out whether the money was being taken for use in the elections, she said, adding the businessman has been detained for questioning.
The vehicle was headed to Siwan from Gopalganj, the BDO said.
