Rs 12 cr for R&D centres in colleges teaching Indian medicine

The Tamil Nadu government today allocated Rs 12 crore towards setting up research and development centres in colleges teaching Indian medicine.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa allocated the amount towards creation of R&D centres in all colleges teaching Indian medicine with a view to promote students and teachers' participation in the initiative.

The effort would help popularise Indian medicine across the world with the publication of related articles in the future, an official release here said.

Jayalalithaa also sanctioned Rs 15 crore for infrastructure development of government colleges teaching Indian medicine. This includes Government Siddha Colleges in Chennai and Palayamkottai and the Government Homoepathy College in Madurai, among others.
