Rs 18 crore drinking water project launched in Pondy village

Puducherry Lt Governor Lt General (Retd) A K Singh today commissioned a drinking water supply project at Manavely village near here.

This will ensure drinking water supply for more than 15,000 families spread over some 20 hamlets in the vicinity of Manavely.

The project was implemented at a cost of Rs 18 crore including assistance from the National AGriculture Bank and Rural Development.

The overhead tank has a capacity to store ten lakh litres water and a sump with a capacity to hold five lakh litre water formed part of the project.

Distribution lines to households had also been included in the project.
 

Chief Minister N.Rangasamy presided.

Earlie, the Lt Governor inaugurated a gymnasium block of the Police department in the police quarters at D.Nagar.
