Bihar government has sanctioned Rs 18 crore for security and safety measures for animals in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar's West Champaran district.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the Forest and Environment portfolio, made this announcement in the legislative assembly in reply to a starred question by JD(U) MLA Rajesh Singh.
The six-km long railway line between Bagaha-Chitauli passes through VTR and poses threat to wild animals located in the sanctuary, he said.

Of the total money sanctioned for the measures Rs 50 lakh has already been released for putting in place required measures for the security and safety measures for animals of VTR.
The fund will be used for fencing habitats of wild animals, construction of underpass and removal of waterlogging in the VTR, he added.
