Rs 2.33 cr property found in posession of an anganwadi worker

Vigilance sleuths today detected properties worth Rs 2.33 crore in the posession of an anganwadi worker in Odisha's Kendrapara district.

The vigilance officials conducted simultaneous searches at several places allegations of acquisition and possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by the anganwadi worker.

Searches were conducted at a three-storied building here belonging to the anganwadi worker, her paternal house, office room and factory at Balabhadrapur and rice mills at Madanpur and Pattamundai in Kendrapara district.

The officials found 13 plots valued at Rs 1.7 crore and the building at Pandra in Bhubaneswar in the name of her husband which was valed at about Rs 25.18 lakh.
 

They also found deposits worth Rs 14,97,701, in 18 policies and policies in her name and the names of her family members worth, besides a van worth Rs 5,51,745.

The woman had joined as anganwadi worker in 2008 at a remuneration of Rs 4,500 per month. At present she gets a salary of Rs 6,500 per month.
