A search operation was launched on a tip-off that the three had stolen a diamond in Nepal and had come to the state looking for a buyer, after which they were nabbed near Radhika Nagar, Durg ASP Prashant Thakur told PTI.

A 13.11 carat diamond worth Rs 2 crore and a 6.9 gm platinum ring valued at Rs 35,000 was seized from them, he said.

The interrogation of the three accused, Kathmandu residents - Pashupati Nath (30), Virendra Bahadur (25) -- and Subhash Khadka (28), who is currently staying in Lucknow, was on.

However, the owner of the diamond and the place from where it was stolen is yet to be established, Thakur said.
