Over Rs two lakh was looted by a seven-member gang from a nationalized bank branch at Hussainabad of Palamau district today, police said.
The gang entered the Hussainabad branch of State Bank of India during transaction hours and took the staff members at gun point before looting over Rs. 2.32 lakh, Superintendent of Police (Palamau), Mayur Patel said.
On being informed, police succeeded to apprehend one of the gang members, Patel said adding that the looters came in four motorcycles.
Suspecting that the looters, who have decamped with the amount, have taken shelter in village Venikhurd, the police surrounded the village and launched extensive search.
