Armed criminals looted Rs 20 lakh from an United Bank of India branch in Bihar's Begusarai district while the money was being carried to another branch of the same bank today.
Six men on two motorcycles waylaid a Scorpio vehicle on which three bank employees of Rajendra Road, Barauni branch of United Bank of India were taking the cash to another branch at Alapur, Phulwaria police station Officer-in-Charge Vivek Bharti said.
In scare the bank staff, the criminals fired on the bonnet of the Scorpio and also in the air and then decamped with the cash, the OC said.
A search for the culprits is on, he added.
